HEALTHCARE FOR ALL

Dream and Green Foundation Healthcare

Why Healthcare Matters

In our country, catering to the last mile delivery of healthcare has consistently posed a significant challenge. A staggering 72% of the population resides in rural areas, where access to healthcare infrastructure is limited to a mere 25%. Conversely, urban slum dwellers, primarily comprised of migrants, face formidable livelihood challenges, relegating health concerns to the bottom of their priorities.

EDUCATION IS EMPOWERMENT

Dream and Green Foundation

WHY Education

If we need to address healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment and human rights, there’s no better way to start than providing education to children in need. Education not only empowers children to have a secure future but also helps them grow up as responsible national and global citizens. The Right to Education (RTE) Act which came into force in 2010 made education free and compulsory for all children in the age group of 6-14 years. But even a decade later, the learning curve has not been steady for many children in the country. The socio-economic conditions of parents and lack of proper learning in schools are hindrances which prevent many children from having education.

WHAT WE DO

Dream and Green Foundation’s flagship programme Mission Education works with the objective of empowering underprivileged children by providing education, nutrition, and wellness support. The programme is well aligned to the New Education Policy (2020), and the SDG Goal 4 (Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all). Mission Education works with children (3-18 years) living in difficult circumstances, children from poor families, differently abled children, disaster-struck children, abandoned and street children, and children living in tribal belts, remote villages and hard to reach areas.

STORIES OF CHANGE

Dream and Green Foundation
Debasmita

“In the slum where I live, many parents are worried about their children’s education. Poverty and circumstances have forced us to always live from hand to mouth. Many girls could not study beyond class 8. My father is a tailor and the last two years, he did not have a job, owing to the pandemic. My mother, a housewife, had to work as a maid to make ends meet. Like many, I was also on the brink of dropping out from school. Had I not received the scholarship, it would have been almost impossible for me to continue with my education. I want to study science, pursue Biotechnology. And I want to help girls in my community complete their education.”

Debasmita is a recipient of Dream and Green Foundation’s merit-based scholarship that is helping her continue her education.
